Book review: Literature : Warden by Anthony Trollope

Recommended: Middle school and above

Although not highly rated a book it was very eye opening and my favorite in the series. If we were to explain this book in just one quote it would be Aristotle’s “The law is reason free from passion.” It is good to follow the rule of law. The rule of law is a safe fence which protects all parties, although we may not necessarily like it .

The book opens us to life in England . The Influences of media . Moral dilemmas ,reactions ,consequences . One of the most  insightful and very accurate portrayal with respect to the communication and mass media propaganda could be keenly understood from this book .

The book is on the life of Mr Septimus Harding  who is the warden and whose moral dilemma which is to be or not to be the warden . It illustrates how people in his life and the local newspaper Jupiter play a prominent  part in making that decision. The book revolves on whether the problem resolved itself or not. As like many things the dilemma runs on high steam of morality without consideration for reality. The book shows if one would stand firm to ones conscience no matter what the consequence may be. It also deals with how family pressure and society pressure could affect ones decision making. The choice Mr.Septimus Harding makes is true to his character .A wonderful read that I really enjoyed.
