Being Mom,Parenting,The Story Behind GIM.com – Part 2
Parenting has made me realize how selfish I can be.I think that was my first discovery.
Every Quote across the Internet talks about the selfless love of a Mother.
But now being a Mom,I seriously doubt it.
My mom for me always was,but me,I can hardly ever consider myself selfless.
From this place started Godly Indian Mom,my search to find what were gods thoughts on being a ‘Godly Mom’.
‘Godly Mom’ – selfless, loving, patient, encouraging, kind, helper, service minded,Role model, trend setter, doesn’t yell(one day, probably, one day I will reach there 😉 ).My favorite one of all ‘the daughter of the servant king Christ’.
Gal 5:22(NKJV)22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.
Godly Mom – is one who does not rely on the world (‘who I am or what I do or what I make’) or
her children (‘being so and so’s mom’) or
her husband (‘being so and so’s wife’)
to define who she is,
but is defined by being the daughter of the Servant King.
Godly Mom is an ideal image which I strive to reach but have a long long long way to go.
What can I say Parenting is harder than rocket science,it doesn’t come with a recipe book to tell you,all the ingredients 1,2,3 to complete a finished product.
Parenting has made me realize how much I need to be on my knees and my desperate need for god:
Everyday I need God,
to keep my selfishness from me and to serve my family selflessly.
Everyday I need God,
to help this broken short fused me to be patient.
Everyday I need God,
to keep me from feeling pressurized that I haven’t done enough for my child when I see other more pinterest active moms.
Everyday I need God,
to help me to slowdown, than go speeding like a train with my Project Next One.
Everyday I need God,
to help me count all my blessings money can’t buy.Honestly this is a big struggle for this materialistic girl.
I need him,
to help me to give myself grace when I serve ready made food to my toddler. There are days, right before lunch time,I remember, I ‘ve forgotten to make rice(our main dish,it just slips my mind some days,I’m downright appalled).
Everyday I need God,
to keep me from getting overwhelmed,as being a mom is 24/7 job,no long bathroom breaks,no slow coffee breaks or lunchtime,as my eyes are always over my shoulder.
I need him,
To help to model a good example as I have 2 little eyes watching me day in and day out. This is every parent’s biggest challenge.
So you see my list goes on.
This Mom is not perfect, will never be perfect. This Mom is human, flesh and blood, guilt, failings and shortcomings.
In short “Being a Mom” has simplified my life into this one single verse:
“
Lord, I need You, oh, I need You
Every hour I need You
My one defense, my righteousness
Oh God, how I need You
Every hour I need You
My one defense, my righteousness
Oh God, how I need You
” — Matt Maher
Maybe you’re parenting struggles are different than mine. The good news is, this Parenting thing doesn’t have to be a one man Jig.We have a big help in the form of god who co parents with us.
He who gave us these precious gifts will give us the strength to carry out our work in them.
Philippians 4:13 (NKJV)13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
Blessings!
As you read this site and post, I hope it doesn’t give a false image of perfection but the amazing grace of god, which has been flooded into it.
