Controversies and Confrontations

Many a times,We try to elude controversial  topics to remain in people’s good graces.I was drafting an article,when my husband mentioned don’t you think it would create controversy?My reply to him was, isn’t it the truth?
We like to play it safe,we are people who seek approval and acknowledgement.
Is it better to lose a soul to eternal damnation than to lose a friend for speaking plain truth?

 

We live in a world that says “What’s right for you,is right for you ,What’s right for me,is right for me”
Then the question arises what exactly is right/truth?
The truth we have with regards to the bible is the one true truth which will never be dictated or tailored according to circumstances.

 

The bible too talks about confrontations be it Jesus or Paul.
I Corin 5:1-13 –>Confrontation of An adulterous man
Matthew 18:15-17 ESV 
“If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother. But if he does not listen, take one or two others along with you, that every charge may be established by the evidence of two or three witnesses. If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church. And if he refuses to listen even to the church, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector.
All confrontations must be well prayed and directed by the holy spirit before they are acted upon.The bible clearly mentions all confrontations must be done out of LOVE and not out of conceit or rivalry.

Too often we rush into things headlong without prayer and that makes even good meaning confrontations seem distasteful.

Galatians 6:1 ESV 
Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted.

Philippians 2:3-4 ESV
Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.
