A Heart for God!
Sometimes its just not hard to understand why god loved David so much.
He was always looking out for god as God was looking out for him.
David took the first initiative in inquiring to want to build a Temple for God,as previously the House of God was a Tent. This pleased God exceedingly and thus he blessed him.But he was also explicitly told that it would be Solomon(his son) who would build God’s temple and not him.
So done deal God didn’t want David to build his house.Story over, time to move on to project 2.
With most of us ,this episode would have been sent to the back burner for good, but not for David.
He didn’t stop,He made extensive preparation for the house of God before his death. He put aside money and resources for the temple work.
I Chronicles 22:5,14-16
5 Now David said, “Solomon my son is young and inexperienced, and the house to be built for the Lord must be exceedingly magnificent, famous and glorious throughout all countries. I will now make preparation for it.” So David made abundant preparations before his death.
14 Indeed I have taken much trouble to prepare for the house of the Lord one hundred thousand talents of gold and one million talents of silver, and bronze and iron beyond measure, for it is so abundant. I have prepared timber and stone also, and you may add to them. 15 Moreover there are workmen with you in abundance: woodsmen and stonecutters, and all types of skillful men for every kind of work. 16 Of gold and silver and bronze and iron there is no limit. Arise and begin working, and the Lord be with you.”
This incident is not not about a stone building built for god but its the heart and soul that sought to please him.
May we never stop for God.
May we seek and work for the heart of god
by raising our children righteously,
by helping others by mission work,
by helping the poor and our neighbors.
