Proverbs 22:6 “Train up a child in the way he should go, even when he is old he will not depart from it.”

Proverbs 1:8 “Hear, my son, your father’s instruction and do not forsake your mother’s teaching.”

1.Spouse is not into homeschooling

This is the biggest reason why one shouldn’t homeschool. If your partner is not upto it. please do not homeschool. Its like a team of unequally yoked oxen which will tear up the cart in different directions. It’s important for parents to have a shared goal and values.

Ephesians 5: 24 Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything.

25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her,

2. Parent not willing to Learn/Read

Homeschooling is a learning Lifestyle. It requires learning, relearning and learning things well. Personally as I used to be a IT professional before I became a homemaker and then a homeschooling mom .The IT life was something i enjoyed because of continuously growing technology ,so homeschooling to me was kind of like that too I enjoy brushing up and relearning things. Discovering books that will help my children to enjoy diving into a subject. If learning is not your thing Then homeschooling is not an option for you.

Proverbs 3:13 “Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding.”

3. Parent’s lack of Willingness to be with children –

Can’t wait for them to get away from you. Then homeschooling is not an option for you. Because it requires patience to work with children especially our own flesh and blood on whom we may not always be charitable. Its always much easier to be nicer to others than to our own loved ones. Now id like to disabuse the notion that homeschooling parents have their children in their apron strings. As you can see I m making this video without any interruption and my children are right outside the door. we are independent individuals who have our very own interests,  hobbies and personal time. Like drawing art construction kits etc.

Psalm 127:3 Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, The fruit of the womb is a reward.

4.Parents afraid to be different –

Homeschooling is on the minority in India. It’s more like breaking the mold. It’s a hard calling. Unless one has the strength of God it’s very hard to  answer all the skeptics and discouragers. since it’s a calling the peace of God the strength of God and the help of God always come pouring down in abundance and that’s my testimony as a homeschooling mom. God uses all circumstances to reach my children and it always is  amazing see him work.

Romans 12:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

5.  Parents not ready for personal Sacrifice and Hard work –

If these words are not part of your dictionary Then homeschooling is not an option for you. As it requires hard work lot of patience. It requires a lot of sacrifice (best career years, extra income, appreciation of colleagues/people) which is very rewarding. Because you are doing the work of a teacher without the salary of it. The greatest reward to me has been this process of watching my children’s growth and milestones.

Ephesians 5:2  And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.

6. Homeschooling for Financial constraints –

Personally I don’t think any child should be homeschooled to save money. As parents it is our God given responsibility to provide our children with a good education to help them be independent useful adults to the world whether it be school or homeschool. If this is the primary reason for homeschooling I can guarantee you when the going gets tough you will not have a solid reason to encourage you to homeschool further.

Proverbs 3:13 “Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding.”

7. Parents trying to shelter the children from the real world –

Any kind of artificial shielding only leads to hidden life and a hypocritical show . It is in my opinion to read age appropriately and discuss ideas, this leads to a healthy rhetoric and a future adult who can independently think.

John 17:15 I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.
