Book Review: Living Science: The Man Who Mistook His Wife For a Hat by Oliver Sacks

Recommended: Young Adult and Adult
Found it in some reading list. Was truly a great book to read. Mr Sacks recounts about neurological issues or mental deficits and how they were diagnosed and were tried to be helped . Frankly as there are no magic cures for some neurological and mental special needs. A very insightful and inspiring book because it has a lot of empathy and understanding and doesn’t pretend science of everything can be explained /cured. Highly recommend it for anyone wanting to truly understand special needs.
Though I personally do not agree to all treatments recommended in the book especially where it dulls people to the point where they lose their unique talents or skills. And I think people who prefer to go down that route must be allowed to take their own course, it’s just that it’s not my view as I feel the cost benefit doesn’t tally for me .
All in all however a great book.
