Keerai Kadanjal/Tangy spinach sabzi
I love having green veggies.This dish is much a reminder of home.I did not add tempering and added very little spice, while I prepared this dish as I wanted my little boy also to enjoy it.
My son loves to have this dish mixed with plain rice and ghee.
Ingredients:
3 cups spinach
1/2 chopped onion
1 chopped tomato
A small marbled size tamarind.(Use as desired)
1/2 green chilli
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1/4 tsp asafoetida
3 cloves garlic minced
1 tbsp oil
salt (as per taste)
Procedure:
1.Heat oil in a pan.
2.In medium flame,Add garlic and cook for a 3 minutes or until raw smell disappears
3.Add onions and brown fry them.
4.Add salt,turmeric and asafoetida and cook for 3 minutes
5.Add tomatoes and tamarind ,cook until they are no longer visible.
6.Add the spinach and cook uncovered for 15 minutes on low flame.Switch OFF the flame.
7.After mixture cools,Use a blender and pulse for less that 30sec.The mixture must be coarse.
