Life Lessons from Disneys Brother Bear

Brother Bear the movie is one of my favorite movies of all time.
The following are the life lessons gleaned:
1.Ignorance leads to Arrogance.Only when we can look at the beauty in things can we learn to appreciate them.
‘A bear doesn’t love anybody they are theives’ — kenai
———–
To look in wonder
at all we’ve been given
In a world that’s not always as it seems
Every corner we turn
only leads to another
A journey ends,
 but another begins

2.Unkind unthoughtful words can drive  people around us to do things that they shouldn’t.
‘You ask lover boy to make the basket, he’s the one thats messing things up all the time’ — denahi
‘If we are lucky somewhere far away’. — denahi
‘I don’t blame the bear kenai’ — denahi

Denahi indirectly pushed his brother to pursue the bear.

Proverbs 18:21 (NKJV)
21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue,
And those who love it will eat its fruit.

3.It would have been better to have lost  material possession than a dear one.
As Sitca breaks ice the around himself and the bear to save his brothers.

Denahi’s goading could have killed Kenai but instead killed Sitca whose responsibility over his brothers made him sacrifice himself for them.
4.The true essence of family is forgiveness and allowances made out of love.
‘We’ll just make another basket ‘ –Sitca
5.Learning to own ones own mistakes is the true mark of character.
‘You didn’t tie the basket did you ‘ — Denahi
‘We are going after the bear ‘ –Kenai
‘But Tinana I didn’t do anything wrong’ –Kenai
6.Seeking Revenge can lead to nothing else but downfall.
Kenai killing the bear turned him forever into a bear.
“While seeking revenge, dig two graves – one for yourself.” — Douglas Horton
7.Sometimes some consequences of our actions are irreparable.
Kenai’s actions caused Koda to lose his mother forever.
——-
Give us wisdom to pass to each other
Give us strength so we understand
That the things we do
the choices we make
Give direction to all life’s plans
——- — Great spirits lyrics
8.‘Love is the most precious of all things , it reveals itself in unexpected ways’ — Tinana
‘You really think love has anything to do with being a man?’ — kenai
Popular culture does not make man synonymous with love.Men who have followed the path of love have never been less than great.Jesus Christ being one.
9.The most important lesson of all ‘ To see the world through anothers eyes’
——————-
The pretty wisdom does not come without learning
And revision not wholly with our eyes
We can think that we see
Truly see all around us
But when we look
Do we see with open minds?
The key to understanding
Is to see through others’ eyes
Find a way to help us
See from all sides
Truly see from all sides
Teach our children to look deeper than the surface
See the world through another’s eyes
For to be blind me on yourself
Is to look but not see it
Knowing much is not enough to be wise
———–great spirits lyrics
Philippians 2:3 ESV
Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.

1 Peter 3:8 ESV
Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind.
The story line as from wikipedia is of an Inuit boy named Kenai pursues a bear in revenge for a battle that he provoked in which his oldest brother Sitka is killed. He tracks down the bear and kills it, but the Spirits, angered by this needless death, change Kenai into a bear himself as punishment. In order to be human again, Kenai must learn to see through another’s eyes, feel through another’s heart, and discover the meaning of brotherhood.
