Book Review : Indian History:The men who ruled India by Philip Mason
Recommendation:Graduates.
Now that I had read accounts of the British raj from Indian sources i wanted to read the view from the other side.I am interested in reading different views as long as the facts are straight and that’s how I got into reading this book.
It was interesting to read from the view point of the British how they perceived India and Indians.And they were not very far from the mark.

The book tells the beginning of EIC to the sub continent of India becoming a Dominion State.The cultural shocks the British encountered with respect to superstitions ,the struggles in setting order and a system(judicial system,educational system,postal system,transport system) and their contribution to the Indian sub continent.There are many lessons we could learn from them in their perseverance and their interest to understand India.
