Mom Confidence: CONTENT in yourself!

I’m always floored/stunned by the ‘Shallow Really’, it grieves me to think it always, always, comes out of my own people. Personally, my fellow working moms seems to have more empathy.

Ever encountered this situation?

My son and I were walking around our apartments  when we encountered my neighbor, who is also a stay at home mom.
She asked me what do I do and I told her  that I was a stay at home mom.

She went on to ask my plans on joining back into the work force, when I politely told her I wasn’t going to.
On went the grilling on why I quit the workforce , for which  I completed saying I left it so I could be with my son. That’s when I got an incredulous reaction like ‘Really?’
Really meaning ‘Really, You left your job to take care of your son?’

Long story short. I quickly made excuses and hurried back home.

When I got home, I was so ashamed of myself because I was ashamed of being a nobody.

I did not take seriously what I do – ‘Raising a young soul’ and who I was – ‘Mom’.

So I prepared myself just as I would if I were at my previous job, how would I introduce myself. And Just that I did.

Coincidentally , I ran into a similar situation yet again.
This time I gently mentioned that I was already doing a full time job being a mom.

And didn’t think I could handle another one.
I felt so exhilarated at that moment than I ever did in my entire life.
A sense of peace washed over me.

This experience was definitely my mom moment that changed my outlook, that changed the way I parent.

Taking motherhood as the Lord’s job brings more focus, brings more objectivity and more target oriented-ness.

Hey moms say it loud! Tape it on your bathroom mirror !” I work full time, I am a mom”. This is your introduction. Own it.

If we don’t take joy in who we are, nobody else will.

Remember introducing yourself at college as an engineering/medical/mba student etc ,
Remember introducing yourself  at work as an engineer/Manager etc.

Why not take Joy in those that have higher value, which cant be price tagged, like raising a young soul?

Be the revolution Mom!

Word Of Caution for the wise:

Proverbs 11:2  (NKJV)
2 When pride comes, then comes shame;
But with the humble is wisdom.

Proverbs 16:5(NIV)
5 The Lord detests all the proud of heart.
Be sure of this: They will not go unpunished.

Blessings!
