Easy Dessert: Paruppu/Dhal Payasam

This is definitely comfort food for me.Love this easy to make effortless dessert.


1 cup Moong Dhal
3 Cups Water
1/2 to 1 Cup Milk
5-10 Cashews
10-15 slivered almonds pieces
5-10 raisins
3 tsp Ghee/clarified butter
1 tsp cardamom Powder 
1/4 tsp salt
Jaggery syrup – Melt 4-5 large cubes of Jaggery blocks in a cup of  boiling water over stove top.(Click Here to See Jaggery)
1.In a pressure cooker brown fry the Dhal
2.Now add Water and cardamom Powder bring to a boil.
3.Put on the lid,once steam arrives ,add the weight and cook the Dhal for 20 minutes on low flame/until the Dhal is properly mashed.
4.Allow the steam to dissipate,remove the weight and open the lid.
5.Now on medium flame add milk ,salt  and jaggery syrup and bring to boil.Boil until you get the required consistency – must be semi solid.
6.In a separate vessel heat Ghee/clarified butter brown fry cashew and almonds,once they are done add raisins and fry for a minute 
Now add this mixture into the Dhal mixture..
You are ready to enjoy your dessert.
